Cottontail Swim and Racquet Club
Cottontail Swim and Racquet Club is a member-owned full service pool and tennis facility serving communities in and around West Springfield and Burke. The club sits on 3 acres in a secluded location bounded by Fairfax County parkland and homes in the Orange Hunt Estates subdivision. The Sangster, Orange Hunt, Cherry Run, and Hunt Valley school districts are well represented in our membership.
Cottontail features a wide variety of swimming activities for members of all ages. Our facilities include 6-lane, 25 meter pool, a diving well with 2 meter boards, a shallow section for young swimmers, two water slides, a dedicated lap lane, a fenced wading pool for toddlers, and a fenced area for the jacuzzi.
Our Club's swim team offers a challenge for young swimmers from preschool through age 18, regardless of ability. Our team, the Cottontail Cobias, participates in the highly competitive Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) in Division 6. The swim team also competes in the Springfield-Burke Developmental League for less experienced swimmers. For details please go to the Swim Team Page.
Private lessons are offered by individual life guards and by members of the swim team coaching staff. Cottontail allows these private instructors to use the facility in order to conduct the lessons for our members, but this is a private arrangement between the instructors and the families who hire them. This means that the times/schedules are negotiated between instructor and student, as are the fees. You can find a private instructor in any of the following ways: 1) advertisements/fliers posted on the bulletin boards at the pool during the summer; 2) inquire at the front desk at Cottontail to hire a member of the lifeguard staff; and 3) approach the swim team coaching staff in person before or after (but please not during) a scheduled swim team practice session.
A dedicated lap lane is always available for adult swimmers. Additionally, the pool is cleared and reserved for adult swimmers 10 minutes of each hour.
The Club offers professionally maintained and lighted tennis courts with a practice board.Cottontail will be offering youth tennis classes this spring and summer. Kids can get an introduction to tennis or enhance their tennis skills, details on the Tennis page.
A wide variety of social events is scheduled for adults and children throughout the summer. Activities include Annual Spring Pig Roast, Memorial Day Open House and Picnic, TGIF and Labor Day Cookout Closing Party and Dog Swim. Events for our younger members include chaperoned teen and pre-teen parties, ice cream socials and raft parties. Our off-season events include the Annual Cottontail Chili Cook Off and Halloween Trunk or Treat. Our covered pavilion and gas grills are available for members' use. See the Events Calendar.
In addition, the Party tent can be reserved for private parties of up to 50 people. See the Socials page.
Cottontail offers both Regular (Bonded) and Associate memberships. For more information on the differences between the two membership types, as well as membership forms, please go to the Membership page.
