COTTONTAIL SWIM AND RACQUET CLUB

 

1. DEFINITION OF TERMS:

Adult
— A person 16 years of age or older.

Supervise — To control a person who is not more than an arm’s length away.

Supervisor – A person who is exercising control from within an arm’s length.

Pool Manager
- A person hired by the pool management company who is the final authority on all matters concerning safety, operating procedures, and on-site decisions on admittance, expulsion, and closing.


POOL HOURS.
A. The swimming pool will be reserved for adults, 10 minutes each hour, during open swim. Guards will clear the pool for this period.  After 6:00 PM, this rule may be suspended at the discretion of the pool manager.

POOL ADMITTANCE FOR MEMBERS:
A.    Admittance to pool will be controlled by the Management Staff or by a Board designated individual.  Only members and authorized guests will be allowed entry.

B.    You must have a membership ID card on file at the pool desk, with current pictures of all members of your family attached.  Those without pictures will not be admitted.

C.    Members will sign the log book at the desk upon entering the pool.

D.    Children under AGE 10 are NOT allowed in the pool area unless accompanied and supervised by an adult.

E.    Children AGE 10 - 13, to attend the pool alone, must pass a test given by the management, demonstrating their swimming ability.  Test results will be recorded on the Membership ID card in the file box.  The test includes swimming the length of the pool (25M), treading water for one minute and showing confidence in deep water.

F.    In special circumstances, parents may use a baby-sitter under the age of 16 to supervise children under age 10 at the pool.  Parents must obtain written permission from Pool Operations Chairman and the Pool Manager.  The Pool Manager will record the approval on your Membership ID card at the pool.  The baby-sitter must be a competent swimmer, a reliable person, and if not a member of the pool, pay the Guest Fee.

POOL ADMITTANCE FOR GUESTS:
A.    All guests will be registered at the pool desk, and accompanied by the sponsoring Club Member or Member’s dependent.

B.    Guests below AGE 10 must be supervised by an adult.

C.    Guests AGE 10 to 13 must pass the management swim test to come to the pool without an adult supervisor.

D.    Members have the obligation to identify and pay for their guests. Guests will be asked to leave if members do not comply with this requirement.

E.    Guests of regular members must either use a Guest Pass or pay the appropriate fee:
    Weekdays    $ 3.00    Weekends    $4.00
Guests of associate members must pay the appropriate fee:
    Weekdays    $ 4.00    Weekends    $5.00

F.    Each family owning a Regular Membership will be issued 10 free Guest Passes for the season.  The pass card will be distributed by the Membership chairperson or their representative. These passes are valid only in the current swim season.

G.    A member can purchase a ONE WEEK DATED PASS for house guests at a cost of $10 per person.  This pass is surrendered at the desk upon entering the pool, and returned upon leaving the pool.  Requests for obtaining this pass should be made in advance to the Membership Chairman as soon as possible upon arrival or expected arrival of guests.  The maximum cost of a one week family pass is $40.

GENERAL:
A.    The cost of any property damage due to negligence will be charged to the responsible member.

B.    Neither the pool Management Company nor Cottontail Swim & Racquet Club are responsible for loss or breakage of personal items.

C.    Members will be held responsible for the actions of their children and guests.

D.    Lost articles must be claimed at the pool office prior to the end of each week.  They will be disposed of at the discretion of the Board of Directors.

E.    A lane will be roped off for lap swimming.  Adults have the first option of using this lane. Care should be taken not to interfere with lap periods on weekends and holidays.


F.    Skates, roller blades, and skateboards are not allowed on the pool deck, the tennis courts, or anywhere on Cottontail Property.


G.    Regular (bonded) members may use the tennis courts anytime during the year, except during scheduled tennis lessons, tournaments, or pool sponsored tennis parties. Associate members may use the pool/tennis courts during the swim season ONLY.

SAFETY:
A.    No person shall use the pool unless it is officially open and lifeguards are on duty in chairs.

B.    Pool will be closed during inclement weather or sanitation problems at Pool Manager’s discretion.

C.    No running, pushing, dunking, wrestling or causing undue disturbance in or around the pool area.

D.    No breakable containers allowed on Club premises.

E.    Prescription eyeglasses with plastic lenses may be worn in the pool at swimmers risk, ONLY if necessary for proper sight.

F.    NO HARD BALLS or any other type of aquatic swim equipment. The use of nerf balls, koosh balls, and noodles may be allowed at the discretion of the Pool Manager.

G.    All injuries occurring within the pool enclosure MUST BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY to the Pool Manager.

H.    Infants, toddlers, and non-swimming children must be under adult supervision in the main pool.

I.    Do not dive or fall backwards off the side of the pool.

J.    No intoxicants may be brought on Club property, unless sanctioned by the Board of Directors. (Fairfax County Regulation).

K.  No skateboarding, roller blading, or skates on Cottontail Property.

SANITATION:
A.  Food or refreshments may be consumed ONLY in the grassy area outside the three foot pool fence, or in the pavilion area. Any person eating on the deck area will be asked to move to the pavilion or grassy area by the Management staff. (Fairfax County Regulation).
   
B.  No gum is allowed in the pool facility.
   
C.  No pets are allowed in the pool facility.
   
D . No one MAY smoke inside the fenced-in perimeter. Smoking is only permitted outside the perimeter of the pool. (in the parking lot). NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 IS ALLOWED TO SMOKE ANYWHERE ON COTTONTAIL PROPERTY. VIOLATORS WILL BE DIRECTED TO LEAVE THE PROPERTY AND THE VIOLATION WILL BE REPORTED TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
   
E.  No street shoes allowed on the pool deck. Shower shoes or thongs may be worn. Operating personnel, health officers and repairmen may wear street shoes on the pool deck. Exceptions are made for swim meets and pool parties. (Fairfax County Regulation).
   
F.  No spitting, spouting of water or nose blowing into the pool or onto decks.
  
G.  Persons must take a hot, soapy shower before entering the pool or spa.
   
H.  Persons entering the pool deck from the grassy or pavilion area MUST wash their feet in the foot shower next to the gates.
  
I. Trash and litter shall be placed in proper receptacles.

J. ALL CHILDREN USING THE POOLS WHO ARE NOT TOILET TRAINED MUST WEAR CLOTH DIAPERS AND TIGHT FITTING RUBBER PANTS. (FAIRFAX COUNTY REGULATION).
  
K.  Disposable diapers are not allowed in any pool or spa. (Fairfax County Regulation).
   
L.  ANY PERSON WHO DEFECATES IN THE POOL WILL CAUSE A CLOSING OF THE
POOL FOR A MINIMUM OF SIX HOURS. IF IDENTIFIED, THIS PERSON SHALL BE SUSPENDED FOR A MINIMUM OF ONE WEEK. THE CLOSING DOES INCLUDE SWIM
PRACTICES, MEETS, OR SWIM LESSONS. (FAIRFAX COUNTY REGULATION)

OTHER CAUSES FOR EXPULSION OR DENIED ADMITTANCE:
A.    Any obscene or abusive language is cause for expulsion from the pool, at the Manager’s discretion.
   
B.    Admission will be refused to persons having infections, disease, or inflamed eyes, colds, nasal or ear discharge, or communicable diseases of any kind. Persons with excessive sun burn, open sores, poison ivy or bandages will not be permitted. Pool Manager’s discretion will prevail.
   
C.    Not being properly supervised, as required.
   
D.    Violations of any pool rules.
   
E.    The discretion of the Pool Manager is the final authority.

WADING POOL RULES:
A.    Use of the wading pool is limited to children under AGE 6, who cannot normally swim in the main pool. All such children MUST be supervised.
   
B.    Lifeguard service will not be provided for the wading pool. Parents or designated adults are responsible for the safety of children in this area.

DIVING END OF THE POOL
A.    Only one person is permitted on the diving board at a time.
   
B.    Do not bounce excessively on the diving board.
   
C.    Do not dive until previous diver has reached the ladder exiting the pool.
  
 D.    Dive straight off the end of the board. Swim out of the diving area as soon as surfacing.
   
E.    Diving from edges of the pool in the diving area is prohibited. The Pool Manger may change this rule as necessary when the diving boards are closed.
   
F.    Diving boards may be closed at the Pool Manager’s discretion.

SPA:
A.    The spa is reserved for use by ADULTS.
B.    A maximum of 16 people may use the spa at any one time.
   
C.    A hot, soapy shower must be taken before entering the spa. Oils and lotions are harmful to the system. (Fairfax County Regulation).

SWIM LESSONS:
A.    Only those persons taking swim lessons will be allowed on pool deck or in the pool during lesson time.
   
B.    All spectators or parents must remain in the grassy area, pavilion or outside the pool facility.
   
C.    No one is allowed in the wading pool or spa area during swim lesson time.
  
D.    Cottontail members have priority for available swim lessons.
   
E.    The Board may approve up to two lanes during this time for swim team use.

PRIVATE PARTIES:
A .   The Club may allow private parties and other special activities when requested in writing by members and subject to approval by the Social Chairman, or in his absence, the Operations Chairman.
   
B.    Any special activity must be approved in advance. The request must include date, time, total number or participants and their names. Fee schedules are available from Socials Chairman or at the front desk.
   
C.    Private parties must end by regular closing and may not require closing of pool to General membership.
   
D.    Such activities will not be scheduled during the weekend.
   
E.    Pool Manager will also be consulted as to the scheduling of private parties.
   
F.    Regular social functions of the Club are determined by the Board of Directors. These include, but are not limited to, member adult parties, children’s parties, swim team parties and raft parties. Notice of such events will be posted prior to the event stating the time the pool will close for such event.
   
G.  Raft Party Rules:
        1. 
A responsible adult must be present and on deck for a child to participate in the raft party
        2. No oversized rafts.
